Enjoy a journey back in time on the Royal Livingstone Express |

Reminiscent of days gone by, the newly revamped Royal Livingstone Express offers travelers an unforgettable "Out of Africa" gourmet dinner excursion. An exclusive extension of Sun International's 5-star Royal Livingstone Hotel at Victoria Falls, the Royal Livingstone Express offers fine wining and dining aboard an elegant antique locomotive.
This memorable journey departs near the hotel and takes approximately three hours, covering 12 miles of breathtaking landscape west of Livingstone. The track was previously part of the historic Mulobezi line, constructed in 1916 by Zambezi Sawmills, reputed to be the largest privately owned railway network in the world at that time.
As the locomotive travels through the Mosi-Oa-Tunya Game Park, guests enjoy pre-dinner drinks while savouring the sunset. The mesmerizing views of the lush Zambezi Valley serves as the backdrop to dinner, where guests indulge in a delicious six-course dinner prepared by the Royal Livingstone Hotel chefs.
The Royal Livingstone Express consists of five air-conditioned carriages, a fully-equipped kitchen car, lounge car, and two luxuriously decorated dining cars featuring wooden interiors, soft lighting, crystal glassware, silver cutlery and damask linens. The locomotive also includes an observation car where guests are often treated to sightings of white rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra and more African wildlife.
World renowned wildlife artist, David Shepard, renovated this locomotive to its working condition and donated it to the National Heritage Conservation Commission. They then teamed with Sun International Zambia and Bushtracks Africa to create this nostalgic travel experience.
