Serena Hotel Group Leads the ‘Eco Field’ in East Africa

Incentive planners demanding “green credentials” for their groups can be confident that a safari in East Africa will meet many criteria. First, there’s the authentic African wilderness and the thrill of one of the world’s greatest safari experiences in the acclaimed parks of Kenya and Tanzania. But, for those seeking a new and unique incentive adventure, Uganda and the gorillas of Rwanda and Burundi offer amazing possibilities we’d be glad to enlighten you on. Even fishing for the giant Goliath Tiger on the Congo River is not outside our extraordinary abilities, but most definitely only for the most rugged of souls in this raw part of Africa!

One leading hotel group in East Africa dedicated to a “green” philosophy is Serena, which offers an array of quality properties in the region; all well attuned to the demands of international incentive groups. Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge was last year voted Tanzania’s leading safari lodge in the World Travel Awards. Little wonder! It has 67 individual thatched rooms in colourful Masai style, so ideal for incentive groups. It is difficult to imagine a more spectacular setting – on an escarpment overlooking the volcano-studded floor of the Great Rift Valley.

Most safari lodges offer 4 x 4 adventures in the wilds as their primary, and often only, genuine activity. At Lake Manyara the variety is unique and tantalizing and includes fresh water swimming in natural pools, horse riding, abseiling, canoeing on the lake, boating, mountain biking and extraordinary bird life (the flamingoes are legendary).

Quality Serena Group properties abound in all key safari and city centres of the region and may be trusted by incentive planners to deliver on promises.

Kenyan examples include the Amboselli Serena Safari Lodge which is set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro and boasts 96 rooms and the Mara Serena Safari Lodge, perched on a hill overlooking the Mara plains, each of the 73 rooms has a private balcony.

The Nairobi Serena won the 2008 World Travel Award as Africa’s Leading Green Hotel and is the gateway to the safari parks, often providing the first or last night in the city for an incentive group. And now the Kampala Serena Hotel in Uganda, like its Nairobi counterpart, has been honoured as a Leading Hotel of the World.

In 2008, Green Route created and delivered two enticing programmes in this region for a major motor manufacturer. Can we tell you more?
