Offering a safari experience to a large group is challenging for planners, with few genuine solutions anywhere in Africa. Most lodges offer exclusivity of 12 or fewer rooms. That’s why CHOBE is the gem! There are several large lodges to choose from, all located along the edge of the Chobe River, the lifeline for a prolific animal kingdom. It’s no surprise that Chobe has featured in the only two global SITE Crystal Awards won by the continent of Africa – both for Green Route programmes that bring this extraordinary destination to life in a creative but careful way. Some examples…
Mowana Safari Lodge
With 111 rooms it is a luxury, thatched, African-style lodge with a panoramic view over the Chobe River and the Caprivi Strip of Namibia beyond. There’s a conference room for up to 100 delegates and a golf course on the property to entice, as well as swimming pool overlooking the river.
Chobe Game Lodge
The only lodge located within the Chobe Park it also overlooks the Caprivi floodplains. It has Moorish architecture and 48 bedrooms. Some suites have their own pools. It’s an advantage to commence your 4 x 4 safari drives or river cruises from deep inside the park and the riverside boma eating area has superb ambience at night.
Chobe Marina Lodge
Here there are 60 well appointed rooms at a great location on the river’s edge. Lush gardens too and walking distance to the little town centre and nice little party tavern called The Old House.
