It was in 1992, with the opening of the 276-room five star Elephant Hills Hotel, that Green Route pioneered international incentive travel into Victoria Falls – the first specialist DMC in all of southern Africa. Since then we have created and delivered more than 500 extraordinary incentive groups, conferences and product launches to this destination.
For the first 10 years Victoria Falls was quickly and widely acclaimed as one of the most powerful natural-world and adventure destinations on earth. Thereafter political turbulence has taken it right off the boil, but as the pioneering experts Green Route is acutely aware of the pent-up desire to revive this incentive wonderland.
The good news is that Victoria Falls Zimbabwe is starting to sizzle and re-boot. It’s raring to go and in a more pristine shape, with even more product offerings, than ever before!
Victoria Falls is standing proud and ready to reclaim its rightful place as THE premier and most desired adventure incentive destination in Africa. While there may be some lingering wariness regarding the political situation, the positive facts that Green Route can fully attest to are:
A new unity government is in place in Zimbabwe and there is a positive spirit to promote investment and tourism.
Countries such as the USA, UK, and Germany have, in the first half of 2009, acknowledged this progress and have lifted all travel warnings to their nationals. Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister met and was well received by the US President, British PM and German Chancellor in June 2009.
The political turmoil of the past eight years has never once impacted on remote Victoria Falls, which is a tourist destination – full stop! The people are as friendly and welcoming as ever; the product across the board is in tip-top shape; there is increasing investment in new product; it is peaceful, tranquil and unquestionably one of the safest places on earth. Safety is a hugely positive factor.
The friendliness of the people is legendary and real.
70% of the views of the Falls are from the Zimbabwe side.
Daily flight access direct from Johannesburg (1.5 hours) remains intact with BA Comair, South African Airways and Air Zimbabwe servicing the route.
Green Route is on the ground ready to create an extraordinary event for you!
Rates are hugely competitive right now as the destination starts its revival!
US$ is the currency of the day and shops are filled; fuel readily available; credit card use now easy.
While not near its heyday of the mid 1990s there is still an international buzz around Victoria Falls – just step into The Boma Restaurant on any night and prepare to be amazed at the rousing scene. Indeed, in 2008 its capacity was enhanced from 180 to 300 due to demand. Impressive numbers that would be the envy of any restaurant anywhere are feasting, stomping, and drumming in obvious delight.
These are no phantom rent-a-crowd tourists - they come from all corners of the globe, secure in the knowledge that they will find safety and smiles and an extraordinary experience. The doubters should merely schedule a site visit – seeing is believing and all the above will be revealed as truth, not hype!
At centre stage is the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls – more than twice the size of Niagara and now in its 150 Millionth fantastic Year! It surpasses the imagination as the mighty Zambezi River plunges into a mile-wide chasm.
An unchallenged safe haven the historic town of Victoria Falls has about 2,500 beds in 12 key properties and is the proven epi-centre for adventure tourism in Africa. There is a vast array of activities in an unspoiled land of wildlife and wonders in the heart of authentic Africa.
There are more than 20 superb conference facilities, ranging from the 500-seater Kalala Room at Elephant Hills Hotel and with five other venues capable of holding 100 people.
