A superlative South African wildlife safari is an imperative for incentive groups and there are numerous possibilities throughout the country that then easily link – by plane, train or coach - with a compelling major destination, such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Sun City.
Lodges are available for big and small exclusive groups and range from the acclaimed, award-winning and prestigious ones to basic more cost-effective possibilities.
Here is a snapshot of some of the best incentive-class reserves:
Kruger National Park
The gem in the African crown and best known for its Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. This is an exceptional experience of Africa at its best with lodges to suit all budgets, from National parks chalets, bush camps to premium lodges.
Sabi Sands Game Reserve
The ultimate luxury safari lodges in South Africa are in this private game reserve that borders the Kruger Park, with no restricting fences. Not only is the wildlife experience equal to the Kruger but the lodges are truly superior as is the service.
Timbavati Private Game Reserve
This reserve lies just north of Sabi Sand on the western edge of Kruger Park and is also one of South Africa’s prime game viewing areas. The fences were taken down between Timbavati and Kruger in 1993 and therefore if you are a visitor to any one of the eight Timbavati lodges you may easily encounter the same abundance of wildlife as in the Kruger.
Other Parks
For visitors to Durban and Kwa Zulu Natal the safari location of choice is Phinda, which offers four magnificent camps – Vlei, Mountain, Rock and Forest. These may also be accessed via the colonial-style and world-class Rovos Rail train.
Elsewhere in the country there is the scenically beautiful Pilanesberg Park on the doorstep of Sun City Resort and, just an hour away, the malaria free Madikwe National Park with several key lodges.
