A snapshot of some of the best known parks:
Amboseli National Park
Famous for its big-game – elephants, lions and cheetahs are a big attraction – and great scenery.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
The most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views, as showcased by the film “Out of Africa.” It is also home of the great wildebeest migration – an astonishing annual cycle that replenishes and renews the grasslands of East Africa.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Created in 1961 it is just 168 sq km in size and is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions, of flamingos nesting along its shores. An area around the lake is fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes and black rhinos.
